This is how the northeastern states of India get a distinct cultural identity. With approximately 220 ethnic groups in the northeast, there are around 220 odd languages spoken in the region. Majuli, the world’s largest riverine island is in northeast India. Northeast India attracts people from all walks of life for its rich biological diversity and its imperial railway infrastructure. The toy train is fairly popular among tourists and is one of the highlights of experiencing northeast on wheels.

Our Explore Himalaya representative will meet you on arrival near Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport. After the group assembles at one point, we will begin our drive to Kaziranga. This is going to be 5 hour drive covering a total distance of 225 kms. We will check into the hotel and grab our dinner to prepare for tomorrow. Overnight stay in Kaziranga.
Today we will start our adventure in Kaziranga national park. The park opens on 6:30 AM to 10 AM. This place is delightful. You can spot elephants, foxes, sloth bears, leopards, chinese pangolins, swamp deer and so many more animals. The park is also a kingdom to royal bengal tiger. You may want to carry your binoculars along with you as well if you want to observe the different species of birds. Elephant rides and safaris can be arranged. Travelers have to pay the extra amount to go on safaris. We will check into our home stay in Kaziranga and finish our day with a delicious dinner.
We will start our day with morning breakfast. This is going to be an important day in the trip. It is advisable to leave early in the morning to cover a distance of 275 Kms, it takes approximately 7 hours. The road to shillong is really good. You will drive through some of the most exotic locations and fall in love with place as you reach there. Explore the local street food and spend some time shopping in police bazar. We will reach Shillong in the evening and check into our hotel and relish the finely made dinner. Overnight stay in shillong.
Take a boat ride in the umngot river in Dawki. The clean water and the beautiful surroundings will make you feel at peace. Each second spent in this place is soothing to the mind. We will make the most of it and explore the territories of Dawki border. Then we will drive to Mawlynnong village. The drive takes around 1 hour and 30 minutes. You can visit the church, that is the popular location of the place. There is a tourist attraction of tree house that offers a glimpse of Bangladesh.
Enjoy the breakfast in morning. We will head to Cherapunji from Mawlynnong village. This is going to be 2 hour 30 minutes long drive. Brace yourself for a wonderful ride. Sightseeing in Cherapunji is one of the highlights of the whole trip. Explore the caves of meghalaya- Mawswmai caves, hop onto the the next destination that is Nohkalikai Falls, it is the the highest waterfall in India. We will also visit the beautiful sa-i-mika park. Check into hotel and end you day with dinner.
Wake up and have your breakfast. It’s the day when you put your trekking boots on. The trek will start from tyrna village. It is the total distance of 7 kms. This trek is specially made for family outings. The double decker route bridge take around 5 hours to complete. The trail is well prepared. The wilderness and green shrubs will surely humble you with its presence. Complete the trip and we will head back to our hotel. Savour the delicacies of Cherrapunji in Dinner.
This is the last day of our trip. We will have a grand breakfast and drive back to Guwahati for departure.
