Leh- Ladakh, words can not describe the beauty of this magical region in Himalaya. Steep mountains, snow claded landscape, and beautiful rivers but in winter when snowfall closes large portions of the mountain passes and makes this region disconnected from other part life become hard. Some villages become completely inaccessible in between November and March. The Only one way for getting to snow-bound villages in the winter is to trek on frozen Zanskar river. The Chadar trek is one such expedition, connecting villages in the Zanskar valley (somewhere down in the mountains) with Chilling (headed straight toward Leh) along the frozen Zanskar River. This route has been used for centuries for trade and transportation and is most reliable in February when the ice is most stable. The trek from Chilling to the Zanskar valley takes over a week. the journey starts from Leh in a vehicle that drops you at Chilling sumdo and from here your trek begins in a valley loaded with stunning perspectives of ice-tops and sudden hanging icicles that will attract your gaze for some time. You will spend the night at cavern camps besides bone fire that will keep you warm and relaxed. The trek comes the Tsarap River in the area of Nyerag, Lingshed and constitutes to Zanskar! Obviously, having an expert guide is basic on the Chadar trek. Trekking on the ice is threatening. But that's the beauty of this Trek. Chadar Trek is considered as one of the most amazing and novel treks – an exceptionally unique and awesome natural trek on sparkling ice on the bank of Tsarap River.

Arrival at Leh and check into hotel. It takes at least a day to acclimatize .Explore local areas, Overnight stay at the hotel.
Today in the morning after small brief we will start our Journey in private vehicle with halt at the magnificent confluence of River Zanskar and Indus and then again a drive to the Chilling, one of the most famous villages in Ladakh, known for craftsmanship, especially the metal works. Touching the Chadar first time, we start the trek for 1-2 hrs along the magnificent frozen river Zanskar till Tilat Sumdo. Overnight stay at camps.
After a cup of Tea and Breakfast at 7:30 Am we will start our Trekking for Tsomo Paldar but before that Explore Himalaya guide will brief you on how to trek on the frozen river. The Frozen Zanskar is hard as rock and slippery in the winter and trekking on this river can be very challenging Hearing the different sounds of Chadar forming and breaking, you will soon get familiar where the Chadar or the ice cover is thick and thin.
After Breakfast start Trek through river and Reach tibb cave. It is the longest day of the trek, we pass through some magnificent beautiful waterfalls and frozen ice cliffs on the left - it is like walking through a giant freezer! The walk also crosses through narrow gorges, where the trekker may have to climb briefly on to the rocky river bank. The sharp bends and current of the river breaks the ice in some places. Lunch in between on a flat rocky hill side by the river. Dinner and Overnight stay in tents
Again one of the magnificent days on the Chadar trek. However, the caution being that this can become a difficult if the Chadar is not very firm. The vistas are stunning though as we pass through giant frozen waterfalls, ice cliffs and one may even catch sight of the mountain fox. Nyerak village is located high above. An old bridge on the river, which villagers claim to be more than 1,000 years old. Beyond the bridge that links Nyerak village with Lingshed. Something will left you with a deep peace in your soul that is the sound of water flowing under the ice sheet.Dinner and Overnight stay at camps in Nyerak Village
Though technically it is the same way back but The Chadar or the blanket of ice that is forming on the River Zanskar is always changing, breaking up and forming itself again. As the Chadar dynamics are ever changing, the same route and place would look and feel different as the texture and conditions change.
Today we trek from Dibb to Shingra Koma. Shingra Koma is a big camping ground on your right as you walk up stream. Its right below a huge stone wall which is straight out of a hollywood movie. The Zanskar river takes a beautiful turn right in front of the camp site and sharp peaks rise on the other side of the river
Last day of our amazing trekking experience. We trek from our campsite in Shingra Koma to Chilling which was also the start point of our trek. From Chilling we drive back to Leh. Overnight at a guesthouse.
Today we depart from Leh to our destination with some wonderful and lifetime memories.
