Kedarnath is a holy Hindu town located in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand in India. It is one of the Char Dhams located in the Himalayas.
Kedarnath is situated at an astonishing height of 3584 meters above sea level near the head of the Mandakini River. The Kedarnath temple lies amidst the majestic snow-capped Garhwal Himalayan ranges and is thronged by thousands of tourists each year. Kedarnath is amongst the holiest pilgrimages for the devout Hindu. It is set amidst the stunning mountainscape of the Garhwal Himalayas at the head of the Mandakini River. Kedar is another name of Lord Shiva, the protector, and the destroyer. The shrine of Kedarnath is very scenically placed and is surrounded by lofty, snow-covered mountains, and during summer grassy meadows covering the valleys. Immediately behind the temple, is the high Keadardome peak, which can be sighted from great distances. The sight of the temple and the peak with its perpetual snows is simply enthralling.

Arrive at the holy city of Haridwar, Check into your pre-booked Hotel. If arrived early visit Mansa Devi Temple, where you can experience the Rope Way Ride. visit Gangaghat and attend spiritual Ganga Aarati in the evening, you can stroll through the market later. Dinner and overnight stay in a hotel.
The morning after breakfast, drive to Guptkashi via Rudraprayag & Devprayag. Enroute you can see the beautiful river Mandakini at Tilwara. The Mandakini river comes from Kedarnath, drive alongside the river to reach Guptakashi, visit Ardh Narishwar Temple in Guptakashi. Check into your hotel after arrival in Guptakashi. Overnight stay at Guptakashi.
The morning after breakfast drive to Gaurikund, start your trek from Gaurikund to Kedarnath (by Pony / Doli / Helicopter at your own cost). By the time you will reach here it will be evening, you can attend evening Aarti here at the Templa. Visit Kedarnath Temple. After temple Darshan Overnight stay in a guesthouse at Kedarnath.
Early morning Visit the Temple, after breakfast, trek back to Gaurikund. overnight stay will be at Sonprayag Hotel.
The morning after breakfast, drive towards Rishikesh/Haridwar. we will drop you at Rishikesh/Haridwar Railway station. you can further continue your journey for respective destinations.

Me and my sons 19 and 17 years, were desperate to do a cycling tour in India after our Nepal tour with Explore Himalaya.I was nervous doing this kind of trip in India. However, our guide Akshay had planned out the safest tour and he was very safety conscious. It was an enjoyable 8-day trip and though there were some nerve-wracking road rides, most of the trip was awesome with few to no traffic. Would definitely recommend Explore Himalaya to other travelers.
