Surrounded by mountains and alpine trees, Kareri Lake Trek is formed by the flow of the water bodies from the Minkiani peak. The trek to Kareri Lake Trek is one of the most scenic alpine treks in Himachal Pradesh that goes to several gushing streams and passes through green meadows. You will come across artistic shepherd villages that have a charm of their own. Other attractions are the Lord Shiva temple which is worth a visit. The trail to Kareri Lake Trek will definitely interest you if you're interested in bird watching as there are various species of birds to look out for. So be ready with your cameras for that perfect capture. The forests here are a mix of pines and shrubs which act as perfect hiding for some exclusive birds.

To reach Kareri Village either you can trek from Dharamkot side or you can take a vehicle till Kareri village via Ghera Village. Reach Kareri Camp, relax for a while, and you can stroll through the village and interact with local villagers. Thereafter, you can settle into your tent after dinner.
Today after breakfast start your trek early morning towards Kareri Lake. walk through forests of Oak, Rhododendron, and Pine with your packed lunch in your bag. Kareri Lake trek first passes through flat grounds but then comes onto a steep ascent, in which you will be trekking alongside the Kareri Nullah Stream. Incredible views of Mountains and nature all around. Reach Kareri lake by 2-3 PM. relax at your campsite. Enjoy dinner and stay in a camp.
After breakfast, start the return trek to Kareri village on a downhill terrain. Trek will conclude at the village.

Me and my sons 19 and 17 years, were desperate to do a cycling tour in India after our Nepal tour with Explore Himalaya.I was nervous doing this kind of trip in India. However, our guide Akshay had planned out the safest tour and he was very safety conscious. It was an enjoyable 8-day trip and though there were some nerve-wracking road rides, most of the trip was awesome with few to no traffic. Would definitely recommend Explore Himalaya to other travelers.
